First winter Great Black-backed Gull was found at the Bismarck Landfill by Ron Martin, Corey Ellingson, and Clark Talkington. Note the very large size, and massive bill. Foreground gulls are Californias. Second state record - second for Bismarck. |

This 3rd year gull was found by Ron Martin, Corey Ellingson, and Clark Talkington just southwest of Napolean on "South Lake" locals calli it. Sleeping birds in foreground are Herrings, giving an idea of size. Third state record, and second today. |

Two locations are possible to view this bird. First is the landfill located 1 mile east of Bismarck along I-94 (open 8-4 Mon-Sat). The roost sandbar is located 1 mile downriver of Bismarck Expressway, the last bridge in south Bis-Mandan. |
